Hullo. Anyone want to talk about their sketchbooking habits? How many do you keep at the same time? Do you make your own? Do you just scribble on pieces of scrap paper? Do you separate practice art and personal art ... & etc?
Recently I finished a sketchbook, and, I realised something: I'm really getting quite obsessed with practice, and building skills, and all of that stuff, and I'm losing sight of WHY I do art, and why I (used to) love it.
Art is much more fun when there's nothing attached to it.. when you don't have to think about the composition, and the shading, and the perspective & whatever else...okay some people might find that exciting, but personally, concentrating on those things makes me forget about the overall concept and the "soul" of an image.
A lot of the technical stuff just comes intuitively. While it is important to learn the theory behind it, it's also important to develop the conceptual side, which I'm really neglecting. SO. My solition is that I now have two sketchbooks:
- A personal' one: which will basically act as an art journal where I draw random thoughts & observations. This one is hard bound, and really pretty, and I just want to open it whenever I get my hands on it

and
- A 'study' one: where I scribble thumbnails, practice anatomy & all of that stuff. This one is just the usual boring spiral bound sketchbook. Blllaaaah XD
It seems kind of obvious, but I've only ever kept one sketchbook at a time previously, and I guess I never thought about it much.
Hopefully, this means more art.. and better art

I mean by a picture, a beautiful romantic dream of something that never was, never will be, in a light better than
any light that ever shone, in a land no one can define or remember, only desire & the forms divinely beautiful.
